Linear Vista
— a multidisciplinary design studio founded on the belief that good design can positively influence lives, environments and cities.
Design and Branding across Southeast and West Asia.
Sean Carpenter
Founder and Principal
Sean Carpenter graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture with Distinction from the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff in 1995, and is a member of the RIBA. Resident in Malaysia since 1998, he has built a practice of versatility and depth, from the regeneration of Kuala Lumpur's River of Life and Back Lane corridors to residential, hospitality, and cultural projects across Southeast and West Asia. He sees no division between architecture, interiors, landscape, and branding, only the seamless pursuit of design that endures.
Sean has also been instrumental in shaping the F&B landscape across the region, working with Nando's since its inception in Malaysia and Singapore. His approach extends beyond fitout to encompass brand identity, naming, and vision, working with both international brands seeking flagship expressions and local lifestyle start-ups with the ambition to make their mark. Recent additions to the portfolio include KLCG in Medan Pasar, Siti Li in KLCC, and Bricks and Butter in The Linc KL.

Our Philosophy
Linear Vista was established in 1999 by Sean Carpenter as an architectural design practice rooted in a singular conviction: that good design has the power to positively transform lives and the environments we inhabit. Now a multidisciplinary studio spanning Architecture, Interior Design, and Branding, our portfolio reaches across Malaysia, Singapore, the UAE, Qatar, Syria, Cambodia, and India.
We are guided by three beliefs that shape everything we do.
Purpose Gives Form Its Soul.
Function is the starting point of all good design, but never the end. Every spatial decision and material choice must have a clear reason for being. We do not decorate. We do not impose. We reveal. Beauty emerges from clarity rather than embellishment. We do not believe one size fits all, and we invest the time necessary to develop each brief into a design approach that is genuinely and specifically theirs.
Materials and Space Speak for Themselves.
We respect the intrinsic character of every material we work with. Concrete, timber, steel, glass, stone: each has a voice, and our role is to let it be heard. Space, material, colour, texture, and light must work in concert, not in competition. We embrace the reality that each design is a prototype, and we relish the process of development through mock-ups, samples, and collaboration with like-minded artisans, arriving at solutions that are genuinely new.
Context is not a Constraint. It is the Brief.
Every site, environment, and cultural setting is the first and most important layer of the design. We prefer to work with context rather than against it, finding synergy between the built and the natural. We touch lightly, and we believe that sustainability begins not with technology, but with understanding. We bring a rigorous project management approach to guide every project from creative concept through to built reality.
